Once the ophthalmologist has done the best of the possible and available treatment and yet the vision is low or partial, it requires a low vision specialist. It means that even with regular glasses, contact lenses, medication or surgery the patient may find it difficult to perform everyday tasks. The Low Vision Clinic provides a service for people who have permanent visual impairment that cannot be corrected to normal levels by standard spectacles or contact lenses. Low vision can result from specific eye conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, from a stroke or in children from macular degeneration, stargards, RP, ROP and many other eye conditions.
